Hydronic Heating

Hydronic heating refers to a central heating system that utilizes hot water to heat your home. It is considered by many people to be the most comfortable, versatile, economical and effective heating option available. Hydronic systems are quiet and durable, usually lasting more than 25 years due to the material used and the minimum number of moving parts.

Generally, an efficient gas boiler is used to heat water that is circulated with pumps throughout your home using either under floor tubing, baseboard radiators, or decorative wall panels that deliver heat evenly to each room of your home. After providing the heat, the water is returned to the boiler to be re-heated and re-circulated. Because of its physical properties, water releases heat gradually when passed through the radiator in each room. This creates a very comfortable living environment where heat distribution is even and controllable, as there are is no moving air to create hot and cold spots.

The same boiler that heats your home can also be used to provide your family’s domestic hot water requirements. With the installation of a hot water storage tank you can obtain almost limitless hot water, great for applications that require unusually large amounts of water, such as hot tubs and whirlpools. A hydronic heating system also permits the installation of a snow-melt system. Pipe coils may be installed under sidewalks and driveways with the hot water circulating through them, melting the snow as fast as it falls. Hydronic systems can also be easily adaptable to heating swimming pools, greenhouses, and separate garages.
