Humidification
When the home heating season arrives, it can be accompanied by a variety of indoor problems caused specifically by low relative humidity in your home. Dry air absorbs moisture from everything inside your home, including you. Dry noses, Scratchy throats. Itchy skin. Static shock. All familiar ailments caused by dry air. But this dry air causes more than discomfort. It can threaten your health and damage your home.
It causes walls, ceilings and wood furniture to crack, wood floors and trim to separate, and shrinks the framing around doors resulting in gaps that let in cold air from the outside, making your home less energy efficient. Expensive electronic equipment can be exposed to static electric charges, requiring repair or replacememt.Properly humidified air can help prevent problems caused by dry air and provides a more comfortable living environment. Achieving proper humidity levels requires the assistance of a humidifier. Builder's Heating and Air Conditioning carries both major brands of humidifiers, Honeywell and Aprilaire. Each manufacturer offers a 5 year parts warranty and Builder's offers a one year labor warranty on our installation.
There are three types of humidifiers usually used in residential homes, powered, by-pass and steam. The type of humidifier that we install is dependent on the application for your home. We will be happy to visit with you and discuss the best options to humidify your home.
TrueSTEAM Humidifiers
Model HM506 TrueSTEAM 6 gallon
This steam humidifier is designed for homes under 2000 square feet. They are the humidifier of choice for areas where other humidifiers can not be used, such as in an attic or crawl space. TrueSTEAM offers the most reliable and efficient levels of humidity because of its near 1:1 delivery rate. It is important to know that your home's water hardness will effect the TrueSTEAM™ humidifier's operation. Because of the extreme hard water in our area we recommend if you decide to install a steam humidifier you also install the Honeywell Reverse Osmosis Filtration system during the installation. The "RO system" will help reduce scale and sediment that can build up in a steam humidifier and will extend the time between humidifier cleanings.
