Every heating and cooling system needs a thermostat to adjust the temperature and control the equipment. There are many styles of thermostats but they all fall into two general categories, non-programmable and programmable. A programmable thermostat allows you to set different temperatures for your home at different times of the day. A non-programmable type will hold the temperature constant at its set-point.

 

The use of a programmable thermostat is one of the smartest and simplest ways to reduce heating and cooling costs. If used as directed, programmable thermostats can save up to 30% on annual energy costs. That's why we always recommend if you are replacing an older style thermostat, you should replace it with a programmable model. Trane has introduced a new ComfortLink™ II Themostat. This thermostat is designed with busy homeowners in mind: it's easy to use, easy to see displayed data and easy to understand with simple programming features, service reminders and a system runtime monitor, which includes weekly and monthly views, all in an effort to provide easy access to your home comfort system from anywhere in the world. The product has been honored with an International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) Innovations 2011 Design and Engineering Award and the coveted Popular Mechanics Breakthrough Award.

The ComfortLink™ II Thermostat has a 7-inch, interactive, high-definition color touch screen display and the ability to customize screen features including indoor air quality status, humidity and individual room temperatures when used with a zoning system. When the thermostat is not in use, it defaults to a screen saver that can complement the look and feel of a home's decor, or can be used as a digital picture frame. If that wasn't enough homeowners can receive a five-day weather forecast with a radar image and weather alerts based on their zip code.

With the addition of a wireless gateway, available as an option, you can control your complete heating and cooling system from your smart phone. There are optional sensors and controls that will allow you turn on lights and appliances in your home from the smart phone app. You can even contol the locks on your house with optional Schlage door locks and access them through the smart phone application, plus hook up a web camera to allow you view what is happening in your home at anytime of the day.
