The Trane 90% AFUE series of furnaces provides a middle ground between mid-efficiency 80% AFUE units and high-efficiency 95% models. Because it uses less electricity and natural gas than the 80% models, it appeals to efficiency-minded homeowners for replacement of their existing units. They are available in efficiencies between 91% and 93%, depending upon the model and Btu capacity.
